Autumn Morning
by Vincent O'Connor

Burgundy leaves wave

goodbye to summer

as I take my morning walk

through the nearby woods.

Back home

flickering flames in the stove

warm my shivering bones

while on the kitchen table

the lit wick of a

pumpkin candle smells

like the goodness of fall.

Sipping oolong tea

with milk clouding its surface,

I watch brown and yellow leaves

waltz in the wind.
