Leadbelly Sings…

As Leadbelly sings his ode to sleep &

His beloved Irene I sit here & dream

Of my bed but right now, with these

Words flowing, I know that remains

At least a few hours away but tonight

I stay happy as I have no one to worry

About where they’ll spend this night!

A Straight Morning In The Sad Cafe

I was sat reading The Ballad of the Sad

Cafe by Carson McCullers this morning

& a thought occurred to me.  “If I smoke

This joint, I’ll probably want to go &

Close my eyes & crawl back under that

Duvet!” & so do you know what I did?

Yeah, I couldn’t believe it either when

I rolled a straight one & carried on

Reading & that ain’t ever happened

Before!

This Town Or That Town

There was a time I was convinced “Yes! This can be my kind of town!”

But sadly that feeling soon passed only sometime later to return with

The idea that “Yes! This can be our town!” but sadly that feeling passed

Too and now I just sit here in my room with that town firmly locked

Behind my front door and, you know what, someone else can have

It if they bloody want it cos I ain’t interested any longer!

Why Don’t They Just Shut The Fuck Up?

If my old neighbours downstairs would annoy me

With their dogs’ constant barking & their constant

Upgrades to their rental flat then my upstairs

Neighbours, right now, are driving me to the brink

Of despair, or the possibility of just going up to their

Door & giving them a piece of my mind!  The

Toilet has been a disaster zone since they moved on

In & the noise, the constant fucking & the constant

Loud banging & their awful awful music is enough

To make me just want to go, knock on their door

& tell them, PLEASE won’t you shut the fuck up!
