Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday, the start of Lent. Forty days of Jesus’s way to the Cross.

I just heard the weather in New Orleans might mean they need to cancel the festivities for Fat Tuesday. The festivities start on January sixth when the three Kings arrived with gifts for baby Jesus; epiphany. I just got back from New Orleans last Monday; went with my wife and one of my sons and his fiancé.

My son has been to New Orleans many times before, my wife has also been there a few times. She got a Masts degree from Loyola University New Orleans. We stayed at the Ponchatrain Hotel, on St. Charles Blvd. There was a street-car in front of the hotel that went to town. Beignets and coffee at Café Du Monde.

We were there just after the Super Bowl so we were checking the football swag. Often called the big easy but we did a lot of walking Bourbon Street and saw a couple of parades, ate at great restaurants. My son loves these fancy places.

At one Eating place, if you wanted Strawberry Shortcake you had to order with your dinner. It takes twenty minutes to create and they cook each Short-Cake to order; I have never heard of such a thing. They made A Shortcake just for Me - Yes me!

Voodoo drinks at the oldest bar in The U.S.A - Voodoo and Pharmacy Museums. The Place for a few poker hands, the Aquarium and Bug house, last but not least a cruise down the Mississippi River to two named gulf. There is a lot to do there if the weather holds out.. we did have a couple days of weather warnings.
